Megan Marrin
Compliance

Megan Marrin presents her first European solo show at Efremidis, exhibiting large-scale, minimalist compositions of fitness and pilates equipment.

Marrin centers on single objects as subject matter: from Victorian ribcage showers to the Corpse flower, she often works by uncoupling an object from its environment, and then repeating iterations of this object through painting. Her paintings elicit repulsion and unfamiliarity, with particular attention to the body and sensation.

Megan Marrin’s exhibition Compliance is shortlisted for the VBKI Berlin gallery price.

Megan Marrin (*St. Louis, Missouri, USA) lives and works in New York and has exhibited at (selection) Sadie Coles, London; Galerie Max Hetzler, Berlin; Wiels Contemporary Art Center, Brussels; Andrew Kreps, Queer Thoughts, Svetlana, Mitchell Algus Gallery and David Lewis Gallery in New York. Efremidis will exhibit works by Megan Marrin and Tony Just at The Regent’s Park during FRIEZE LONDON (13-17 October 2021) in a section curated by Cédric Fauq titled unworlding.
