Working within the mediums of photography, installation and sculpture, Fusters work explores notions of inherent tension and controlled chaos through material reorganization. In her sculpture series ‘Presionador’ or Pressurizer, Fuster seeks the magical balance between violence and serenity. The opposition of the materials used, respectively a blow- up mattress and a steel bar, evoke a tension and drama which attempts to question the bi-polarity of life. The tension is not only implied it is also effectively exercised by the steel bar pressing into the mattress filled with air or in some cases, exhalation.
Nuria Fuster has taken part in numerous international group exhibitions, most notably at Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris, Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid and Centro Botin in Santander, Spain. Her work has been shown at ARCO Madrid, Art Basel Miami Beach, The Armory Show and Art Cologne.
