Hannah Sophie Dunkelberg

Born in Bonn, Germany in 1987, Dunkelberg now lives and works in Berlin. She graduated from the UDK as a Meisterschülerin in the class of Manfred Pernice in 2019.

Her sculptural work is heavily influenced by painting. The imagery deliberately stages painting and photography in the sculptural field. She employs a playful sense of materiality and allows her desire for the act of painting to be expressed in volatile and unpredictable ways.

Hannah Sophie Dunkelberg has been awarded the sculpture price of the Ursula-Hanke-Förster-Stiftung and has received funding from the Karl-Hofer-Gesellschaft Berlin.

Her work has been exhibited at Haus am Lützowplatz Studiogalerie, Kunstverein Rosa-Luxembourg-Platz, Museum of Photography and Gussglashalle in Berlin. In addition she participated in a number of group exhibitions most notably Museum Kunstpalast Düsseldorf, The Others Art Fair with OFFICE IMPART in Turin and Pablo’s Birthday Gallery in New York.
